As many may know, first looks with the bride and groom are becoming more and more popular everyday. For those that do not now what a first look is, it's basically a moment before the ceremony at any point in the day where the bride and groom see each other for the first time before they get married. Such as a "sneak peak". I think first looks are such a sentimental thing and can be so beautiful and romantic. It allows the bride and groom to have a few special moments of just them together before standing in front of all their friends and family. I personally love the groom's reaction when he see's his bride for the first time and gets to hug and love on her and maybe shed a few tears.
From a photographer's stand point, first looks are so amazing and I think I can speak for most photographers that it makes the day so much more easy-going and more productive, let alone not as stressful! It allows us to get all the portraits including bridal party and family combinations, etc. out of the way so when the ceremony is over, the bride and groom can go on to their reception without having to worry about crunching all the photos in right after!
Now, some bride's don't like to do first looks because they want a bigger reaction from the groom when he see's her for the first time walking down the isle, and that's totally okay. However, I personally have seen much sweeter and more romantic reactions during first looks than I have ever seen during a ceremony. I would say something about one-on-one time with your love means so much more emotionally than in front of a crowd. I have even seen where the groom gets emotional both times because it's such a different feeling and setting. I would definitely say that if your a bride and worried about that, don't let it stop you from doing a first look!
